These are more pictures of Bonapart. This family are making a rope. I'll bet they made at least 100 ropes that day. Everyone wanted to do that. We also set up displays of brick making, candle making, bread making in the old bustle oven and pioneer games. We had children there all day long playing the games. We will have to bring some home for family reunions they are so fun.
Here
The wagon is a lot smaller than the one Dad drives but the horses were about the same size and they were a beautiful matched pair of Belgiam horses.
Dad thinks we should bring home a wagon and horses. Is anyone interested in going back to the horse and wagon days?
The ladies waving on the wagon are our friends here.
One is from Colorado and the other from Arizona.
This is the river side of the Bonaparts Retreat Restaurant. Loved the water wheel.
After we cleaned up our displays we stayed and had dinner at a restaurant called Bonaparte's Retreat. They have very good food. We even went back another day for lunch.
It reminded me of an old song Grandma B used to sing to me when I was little called Bonapart's Retreat. You can probably hear it if you go on line but the music is fun and the words are:
Met the girl I love in a town way down in Dixie,
Beneath the stars up above, she was the sweetest girl that I ever did see. So I took her in my arms and told her of her many charms, I kissed her while the guitars played the Bonaparte's Retreat.
All the world was bright as I held her on that night And I heard her say, "Please don't you go away". So I held her in my arms and told her of her many charms, I kisssed her while the bagpipes played the Bonaparte's Retreat.
There are a couple more verses ending in I kisssed her while the fiddles played and then everybody played the Bonaparte's Retreat. It is a cute little song and I could almost hear grandma singing it.
Eating at Bonaparte's Retreat - you gotta love the wind blown look.
Here we are packing up to head home. We didn't get home until after 7:30 PM What a great day!
