On Saturday June 11th, (Jenni's Birthday) we took Nauvoo on the Road. We went to Bonaparte, Iowa, about an hour away for a Civil War Reinactment. We set up in a park by the Des Moines River where they were shooting cannons and musle loaders across the river. Men, women and children were all dressed in the period clothing. I wish my photos were good enough for you to see their costumes?,(not really sure if they were costumes or their every day cloths) beards and teeth (or lack of). Anyway we had such a great time.
This horse and wagon took people back and forth across the river all day long.
The men here were dressed as Confederates. It seems not many of the Union Army showed up for the reinactment. I'm not sure in the real battle which side won, but on this day the Conferedates won by default. You know how that is when the other team doesn't show up.
These little children played around a good part of the day and they were so cute.
