The American Lotus

The American Lotus which look like a Water Lily. We wish you could see how beautiful they are for miles up and down the Mississippi River. We like to stop and see how much they have grown every time we go into Keokuk which is about 15 miles away across the river in Iowa. That is where we go sometimes to shop. (that is where Walmart is - go figure) They also have other chains like McDonalds, KFC, Taco Time, Family Dollar Stores, (they are every few blocks here also) and other eating places. We tried a new one the other day it is called the Wooden Nickel. We had to go down these steps and through a bar but the food was really good. We may try it again.
The flowers on the American Lotus are really big and white. We always stop at the same place where we posted the Goose hatching box pictures before.

The Goose Nesting Box. We always stop by to take pictures. You can see that the flowers are taller than it is now. (This picture and the one below were taken about a week before the ones where they are in full bloom. )

They go for miles and you can see they have a Lily pad that floats on the water. They say they only grow in water 18 to 24 inches deep.

We wish you could see them in person. They really are amazingly beautiful.
